Javayarman VII Children’s Hospital
The Kantha Bopha Foundation has 4 hospitals matching international standards of health care. Together they perform 400,000 vaccinations, 12,000 births, 16,000 surgical operations per year, as well as 3,000 consultations a day. Currently there are over 1,400 children hospitalised. The average duration of stay is 5 days. All services are free of charge: consultations, hospitalizations, surgical operations, deliveries, medicine, etc. This is because 95% of Cambodian families cannot afford medical care. The $18 million in operating costs are funded mainly through private donations. Only 5% is used for administrative management. Proceeds from concerts every Saturday at 7:15pm go to support the hospital. Blood donations are also welcome. A new movie by Janine Hosking titled “Doctor Beat & the Passive Genocide of Children” is shown every Mon. Tues. Wed. Thur. at 7:15pm. Admission is free. Located on the road to Angkor Wat.
